Introduction
Leading UX and human factors design for high-stakes communication and medical tech systems.
At EERS Global, I spent six years designing for complex, safety-critical environments. I led the UX and research strategy for a handheld communication device used in clinical and industrial contexts, conducting human factors research and working closely with engineers to improve adoption and reduce cognitive load. I also mapped patient, caregiver, and clinician workflows to inform surgical product design and hospital integration.
Since 2019, I have been working at EERS Global, a tech company based in Montréal, Canada. Our team developed an industrial communication headset licensed by 3M that launched internationally this year. I have also contributed to ongoing EERS projects with two additional international companies, which, due to NDAs, must remain nameless for now. My work at EERS has been a rich and fulfilling experience, where responsibilities and practices in my role as UX Designer include some of the following:
User Research, Data Analysis, User Journeys:
Performed user research for industrial and medical applications throughout the various stages of technology readiness level to determine target user needs and identify key product functionalities. Built product requirements based on user research data analysis and user journey mapping.
Product Interface Design:
Developed product interface design solutions in areas such as ergonomic button and LED placement, lighting configuration and voice prompts to serve a wide range of users in their respective industrial and medical fields.
Cross-Disciplinary Team Collaboration:
Interfaced with industrial, audio, and mechanical engineers, software developers, and project managers and prospective users at all stages of the product design from initial scoping, through R&D phase, to project delivery, to optimize user experience and interaction design of the product.
A/B Testing, Prototyping:
Utilized A/B testing at various stages to evaluate prototype device form, hardware and software configurations.
Copywriting, Visual Design, Branding:
Produced copy and visual design of instructional support material for both internal and external users to utilize before and after product completion, i.e.: Quick Reference Guide and Quickstart Guide consisting of device button and lighting placement, component overview, feature explanations.
Designed company website and devised brand guidelines for internal and external use.
Data Visualization:
Designed custom data visualization of “talent pipeline” for research chair, CRITIAS, used in presentation material for other universities, government entities, and potential licensees. Designed org chart for EERS team structure.
